Best Handgun Training offers CCW training classes all month and all year long, while most other instructors "occasionally" offer training classes. We are a top-notch training facility offering initial CCW training for $275  and offering renewal CCW training for $175 (up to 3 weapons, no additional charge per weapon). Excludes $20 cash range fee.

There are more than 34 "shall issue" states throughout the USA.  Whether you travel often, or just wish to exercise your 2nd Ammendment Rights, you may wish to become a licensed (permitted) Concealed Weapons Holder in some or all of these states.

Many states have reciprocity agreements  with each other. CA DOES NOT HAVE RECIPROCITY WITH OTHER STATES.  

When it comes down to guns and gun safety, you owe it to yourself to get the very best handgun training course and doing so in a very safe and controlled range environment. When training with BEST Handgun Training, you will walk away with a tremendous wealth of knowledge, rather than taking a "bare minimum" training class from an instructor that may not be prepared to teach the appropriate lessons, or from a newer firearms instructor without the knowledge and skills in which we possess. Most of our instructors have a minimum of 20 years of experience as a trainer and/or law enforcement backgrounds, with a combined experience of over 140 years in the industry.

While attending a CCW Training Course with Best Handgun Training you will learn all laws when it comes down to using a gun in self defense, which eliminates "gray areas" that exist for some CCW permit holders that have attended training classes from other instructors without the proper instruction. This includes draw and do not draw scenarios, shoot and do not shoot scenarios, where it is (and where it is not) permissable to carry a gun, the best type of holsters and concealment methods, the best methods for deploying your gun from a holster, what to expect after a self defense shooting, and all laws pertaining to the use of force.

Our CCW training will provide you with the knowledge (and more importantly, in depth discussion of laws and scenarios pertaining to CCW) in which you need to apply on a daily routine to responsibly carry a concealed weapon, as well as maintaining your marksmanship skills.

If you have "handgun" safety and "recent" handgun shooting experience, the CCW qualifications are rather simple if you know your gun. Our training courses prepare you for the real every-day world, and are scenario driven.

BEST Handgun Training's indoor classroom instruction is in a private, safe, professional facility, with plenty of free and safe parking. We do utilize an outdoor private shooting range nearby for live fire drills, qualifications and other exercises. SAFETY IS OUR #1 CONCERN.

For renewal applicants (with a valid unexpired permit) the entire 8 hour training will be completed in one day, provided that you demonstrate your ability to use a firearm safely.  The initial CCW traning requires 16 hours, and we will complete the training over 2 days (with range and classrom time in both days). For the 2 day course, it can be over a period of time. We have flexible weekday and weekend instruction, as you will see when you click on "schedule your class". Just a reminder, we post our calendar on or about the 15th of each month, for the following month.

We are currently offering initial CCW training and renewal CCW training for the following CA counties:  El Dorado County CCW, Nevada County CCW, Placer County CCW, Sacramento County CCW, San Joaquin County CCW, Sierra County CCW, Sutter County CCW, Yuba County CCW. We are certified for the Utah concealed weapon permit instruction/certification (36 states).

The steps to become licensed in these 34 + states have become rather streamlined, provided that you are a law abiding citizen and do not have a history of certain criminal convictions. You only need apply for one  "shall issue" license which has the reciprocity, and upon issuance, your Concealed Weapons Permit (Commonly referred to as CCW, LTC, CFP) is honored in these other states while their reciprocity agreements are in effect. Be sure to check the laws of other states which you will be travelling through, before you travel. Otherwise you may be committing a crime. It is important to understand that there may be a few states with a reciprocity agreement, but in order to carry in that state, you must be a resident of that particular state.

In CA, the Sheriff of each County (58 counties) is usually the issuing Authority for a CA CCW Permit. However, there are a few cities in Northern California which have been issuing (Davis, West Sacramento & Woodland).

Before and while you have your CCW permit, it is important to have the proper instruction and training while carrying a concealed weapon, and continue to train on a regular basis.

Utah CCW Permits, Arizona, Nevada and Florida CCW Permits DO NOT allow you to carry a concealed firearm within the State of California. CA DOES NOT honor any out of state or non-resident CCW permit. Utah CCW Permits, Arizona, Nevada and Florida CCW Permits are issued for "Personal Protection" or "Self Defense". Reciprocity and Recognition of Permits from State to State is a complex issue.
